BREAKING: Another injury blow for Real madrid as Gareth Bale is set to miss the rest of the year after being withdrawn half way in the Madrid derby

Gareth Bale's injury woes may be set to continue as the Real Madrid star was withdrawn at the half in his side's scoreless draw with Atletico.

The forward had gotten off to a fine start in La Liga, with three goals and two assists in five games, as well as a tally in the Champions League.

But held off the scoresheet in a disappointing 3-0 loss to Sevilla midweek, Bale looked to get back among the goals in the big clash against their local rivals.

Yet his match would be ended early as though he made it through the first 45, Dani Ceballos came on to replace him at the start of the half.

Goal can confirm Bale has an adductor injury in his leg, though the severity of the problem is yet to be determined.

Injuries have been a problem for Bale for much of his Real Madrid career with calf and thigh problems costing him most of October and November of last season, though he did manage to make 26 league appearances last year and went as an unused substitute in seven other La Liga contests.
Other sets of injuries limited him to just 19 league appearances in 2016-17 and 23 in La Liga the year before.

While the international break is not far off, Madrid still have a midweek Champions League clash against CSKA Moscow and a La Liga match against Deportivo Alaves next weekend before a two-week break.

"It's not good at all so many injuries (Bale, Isco, Marcelo)," Real boss Julen Lopetegui said after confirming that Bale was taken off with a knock and would have medical tests on Sunday.

"What the coaches have to do is to look for solutions. And trust on our squad until death. Just look how Ceballos played today. He was fantastic"
Madrid then return to action October 20 against Levante.

Wales may also be concerned over their star man, as they have a friendly against Spain on October 11, following by a Nations League match against the Republic of Ireland six days later.

BREAKING: Isco In, Bale Out as Real Madrid announce Zinedine Zidane successor

Spain manager Julen Lopetegui will take over as Real Madrid coach after the World Cup, the club have confirmed.

Real had been heavily linked with a number of potential managerial appointments following the shock resignation of Zinedine Zidane, including Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino and former Spurs and Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas.

However, they have now decided to appoint Lopetegui, who signed a new two-year extension with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) last month.

But following the conclusion of the tournament in Russia, which La Roja are considered one of the favourites to win, Lopetegui will transition into the role at Santiago Bernabeu.

A statement read: "Julen Lopetegui will be the coach of Real Madrid after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"Real Madrid CF announces that Julen Lopetegui will coach the first team for the next three seasons.

"Julen Lopetegui will join the club after the participation of the Spanish team in the World Cup, after two years leading the national team."

Lopetegui will go head-to-head with Cristiano Ronaldo at the tournament, with Spain set to take on Portugal in their opening group game this Friday. They also play Morocco and Iran in the group stages.

Zidane resigned as manager following an unprecedented era of success that saw Real win three consecutive Champions League titles, most recently defeating Liverpool 3-1 in Ukraine to complete the treble.

The France legend subsequently took the decision to step down, and a replacement has now been found, though expectations are unlikely to be any lower.

Lopetegui has endured a mixed managerial career thus far, but has history with Los Blancos, having managed the club's B team between 2008 and 2009.

A trusted youth coach, he has also managed Spain at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, though he failed to win any silverware at FC Porto and was sacked.
It remains to be seen if he will head to Real as a World Cup winner, though Spain's squad is stocked with exciting talent.

The Blancos are keen to sign the Egypt star this summer after his sensational campaign with the Reds but are put off by his €200 million price tag.

The Champions League holders hope that by including both the Wales star and the Costa Rica goalkeeper, they can get the price down and still land their man.
