The Argentina international is under contract with the Blaugrana until the next summer, and is still to sign the new deal which will tie him to the club until 2021.
And according to the Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the five time Ballon d’Or winner wants a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave whenever he wants.
The report comes just days after Messi revealed his dream next club.
“I still have to play in Newell’s and that is my dream,” Messi told Ole. “But, as I was saying recently, I do not know what will happen a few years from now or how I will be to come back.
“I would love it and I always said it but I hope I can continue at this level to get back to Newell’s because it’s what I dreamed since I was little.”
Messi started his career playing for the Newell’s Old Boys back in 1994 when he was only six.
He was then scouted by Barcelona and joined the club’s famous academy La Masia – the rest is history.
