The Catalan giants are still yet to suffer a league defeat this season and sit nine points clear at the top of the table.
However, this will not stop them from making new signings during this month.
One player is set to make a surprising return.
And the player is Brazilian right-back Douglas, who could end his season-long loan at Benfica now after disastrous spell at the Estadio da Luz.
The 27-year-old has not made a single league appearance for the Portuguese champions, and featured three times in their catastrophic Champions League campaign that saw them fail to pick up a single point from their six group games.
But the fact that he could return to Camp Nou before the season ends has irritated Messi, who is said to be one of a number of players unhappy with the situation and he is ready to use his position as the club’s biggest star to try and block the move from happening.
Douglas is part of Barca since 2014 when he joined from Sao Paulo but has made only eight appearances for the club since then.
