Coutinho was presented at Camp Nou on Monday in front of 7,500 fans after signing for the Catalans.
He has become the second most expensive player in the world following the move – behind only his Brazil teammate Neymar following his £199m switch from Barca to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
And Coutinho has claimed that his international teammate has been one of the first to congratulate him on his move.
“Neymar congratulated me and told me there is an incredible team here,” he said at a press conference following his unveiling.
“Paulinho and Luis (Suarez, a former Liverpool teammate) already told me that and I hope that I can be very happy here.”
Coutinho was also questioned on if he hoped his presence at the club would now lead to fans forgetting about Neymar, but he dismissed such a notion.
“I play with Neymar for Brazil and we’ve been friends for years,” he continued.
“We’re different players. He is obviously a great player but we have different qualities.”
