According to Diario AS, the Portuguese tactician and Red Devils executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward are discussing the possibility of signing Germany midfielder Toni Kroos from the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League winners.
The report suggests that the English giants are willing to spend big on the services of the central midfielder, who reportedly has a release clause of £442.1 million (R7.9 billion).
Kroos, who was part of Die Mannschaft’s disappointing 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign, signed a long-term contract with Los Blancos in October 2016 which has tied him down to the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022.
With Zinedine Zidane’s shock departure from Real, and with Julen Lopetegui not quite settled in yet, United feel now may be the perfect opportunity to try to sign the 28-year-old.
Mourinho is hoping that the experience of Kroos will bring the best out of Pogba, who sometimes needs a bit of guidance, according to a few former players.
The 28-year-old has made 190 appearances for Real until now, scoring 12 goals and further assisting in 54 strikes.
