Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing a 2018 FIFA World Cup winner who has a release clause of £72 million (R1.41 billion).

Jose Mourinho apparently thinks the 22-year-old would be a good investment, and would like to sign him in the January transfer window.

The Portuguese tactician lost out on both Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld in the latest window, and there are reports claiming he missed out on several other players too.

It is believed that Real Madrid are also interested in a move for the Atletico star, but it seems unlikely his club will sanction a sale to their city rivals.

Hernandez has made 90 appearances for the Rojiblancos since breaking into the senior side in 2015.
