A court has declared him guilty for hiding 500,000 euros from image rights, during the time he was a Real Madrid player.
The Mirror are reporting that he already returned the money, but still has been sentenced with seven months in prison and also been given a fine of 142,882 euros.
However, thanks to his guilty plea, his sentence has been reduced from 12 months, and he will not put behind bars, because according to Spanish law, any sentence under two years for non-violent crime does necessarily demand the defendant without previous conviction to spend time in jail.
Carvalho is now part of the Chinese Super League, currently playing for Shanghai SIPG, but has spent six seasons at Chelsea, winning three Premier League titles.
