According to Spanish publication Don Balon, the Red Devils have approached Spaniard Marco Asensio in recent weeks as they look to bolster their creative resources.
Jose Mourinho is apparently a massive fan of the 21-year-old, but knows Los Blancos will be reluctant to sell him as he is considered one of the brightest young talents in Europe.
Asensio has made most of his appearances from the bench this season, and it is believed that the lack of starting opportunities is getting to him.
Reports suggest that the youngster is not part of Zinedine Zidane’s immediate plans, and this could prompt the player to look for playing time elsewhere.
English media believe Asensio is also on Arsenal and Chelsea’s radar, which could create a bidding war for him should they hear the player wants to leave Madrid.
The former Espanyol star has made 27 appearances for Los Blancos so far this season, scoring seven goals and assisting three further strikes.
