BREAKING: Real Madrid's top target Mohamed Salah jumps ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in Golden Shoe race and the gap is quite remarkable

Liverpool’s African superstar Mohamed Salah has jumped ahead of Lionel Messi to the top of the European Golden Shoe table, while Cristiano Ronaldo has entered the top 10 for the first time this season.
The Egyptian scored four goals in Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Watford to break Fernando Torres’ record for the best debut season at Anfield.
Overall, Salah has now scored 28 goals in the Premier League this season, which equals 56 points in the European Golden Shoe ranking, with the league’s accumulator being rated as “two” by UEFA.
Messi follows in second place after he was replaced at the top by Salah following his four-goal showing. The Argentine currently sits on 25 league goals, which equals 50 points in the Golden Shoe ranking.

Edinson Cavani, Harry Kane and Ciro Immobile have all scored 24 league goals so far this season, equalling 48 points, while Benfica striker Jonas is the only player from outside Europe’s top five leagues among the top 10.
The Brazilian has netted 31 goals in Portugal’s Liga NOS, but with the Portuguese top flight not considered among Europe’s top leagues by UEFA, Jonas’ goals are only multiplied by 1.5, and as a consequence, he sits on 46.5 points.
Robert Lewandowski follows with 23 goals and 46 points, while Ronaldo has now scored 22 league goals, as many as Serie A’s Mauro Icardi, which equals 44 points. Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez complete the top 11 with 21 goals and 42 points.
Salah could become the first African winner of the European Golden Shoe, which has been handed out since the 1967/68 season.
