BREAKING: Kante refuses to take penalty as Hazard comes off bench to become Chelsea savior with amazing wonder goal

Eden Hazard revealed that his late winner against Liverpool on Wednesday came in part from a desire to help N'Golo Kante avoid taking part in a penalty shootout.

With the game tied 1-1, the Chelsea star netted a brilliant individual goal in the 85th minute of a Carabao Cup third round tie at Anfield.

Hazard's brilliant goal continued a red-hot start to the season for the 27-year-old, who has now scored six times in seven appearances in all competitions.
The late strike condemned the Reds to their first defeat of the season, with the Belgian's goal holding up in a 2-1 win for the visitors.

Had the game ended in a draw it would have gone straight to penalties, a fact that Hazard apparently had at the forefront of this thinking.

When asked by Sky Sports what went through his mind prior to the goal, Hazard cited a conversation he had with his team-mate, who entered the match as a second-half substitute.

“I spoke with N’Golo on the bench and he told me he didn’t want to take a penalty, so the only solution was to score!” Hazard said.

Hazard's novel idea sent Chelsea through and gave his side a psychological advantage heading into a rematch at the weekend in league play.
"I have scored some goals like that! Not all the time," he told Chelsea TV.

"It is on the top of the list, top 3. I remember around two years ago, the one against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. That one was nice.
"This one also is one of the best, especially when you score against a big team and win the game. That's the most important thing."

The Blues host the league leaders at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, looking to leapfrog Liverpool in the table with another victory.
"I think this game was more to have the confidence in three days time," Hazard continued.

"We won so in the league we will change some players, they will change some players but we want to win again. Especially in front of our fans at Stamford Bridge. It is going to be a good day for us, I hope."

BREAKING: Forget Man City! Chelsea and Liverpool break overwhelming 110-yr-old record as they both re-affirm their status as EPL hot shots

Liverpool and Chelsea continued their perfect starts to the Premier League season on Saturday, and together have done something England have not seen in over a century.

The Reds opened up Saturday’s Premier League fixtures with a 2-1 win over Tottenham at Wembley Stadium , which made it five wins in five games so far this season for the Anfield club.

Chelsea not only kept pace against Cardiff but,  through a 4-1 home victory against the Bluebirds , actually moved top of the table on goal difference.

A perfect start through five games is not unheard of in the Premier League as Chelsea themselves have done it four times, though both of Liverpool’s previous five-for-five came in the old First Division.

However, for two teams to manage it is unheard of — this is first season in Premier League history where a pair of clubs managed perfect starts through five games.

While the Premier League only dates back to 1992-93, it requires a long trek through history to find the last time any English top-flight duo managed it.

The last time it happened was 110 years ago, back in the 1908-09 season. Prior to that it had happened in 1905-06.

3 - This is the third time in English top-flight history, and first time in 110 years, that two clubs have won their opening five games of the season (1905-06 and 1908-09). Antique.

More history could have be made on Saturday as Watford also began the season perfectly, with four wins in four. Another three points would have seen a trio-teams start perfectly through five for the first time ever in English top-flight history but it was not to be as Manchester United downed the Hornets 2-1.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea will face European fixtures midweek, before the Reds try to make it six for six against Southampton at Anfield next week, while the Blues visit London rivals West Ham.

Should both clubs come away with three points, at least one will have their streak stopped the following weekend as they face off against one another at Stamford Bridge on September 29 — after meeting in a midweek Carabao Cup fixture three days before.

BREAKING: Madrid finally beat Liverpool to €60m signing of France World Cup star

The France international is set to move to La Liga following three seasons with the principality club.

Atletico Madrid have announced an agreement has been reached to sign Monaco star Thomas Lemar for a reported fee of €60 million (£52.9m/$70.5m).

The 22-year-old France international has been subject of interest from Arsenal and Liverpool among others, but he now appears destined for a move to La Liga.

The Guadeloupe-born attacker joined Monaco from Caen ahead of the 2015-16 season, and eventually established himself as one of Ligue 1's best left-sided players.

Lemar broke through in the 2016-17 campaign, scoring 14 goals and adding 17 assists as Monaco won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

The France international could now be set to join up with his international team-mate Antoine Griezmann with the Rojiblancos — if the 27-year-old decides to stay put.

On Tuesday Griezmann revealed he has made a decision regarding a potential summer transfer to Barcelona, but isn't ready to make that decision public.

Griezmann has called on Atletico to invest more in their squad, and Lemar's arrival is a sign the La Liga runners-up are taking their star's advice.

Lemar and Griezmann are a part of the France team that will begin their Group C campaign against Australia on Saturday, before facing Peru and Denmark in the group stage.

BREAKING: Jurgen Klopp gets his answer as Marco Asensio finally makes Liverpool decision

Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio plans to sort out his club future after Spain's World Cup campaign, amid reported interest from Liverpool.

Asensio started the 2017-18 season strongly, scoring in both legs of the Supercopa de Espana triumph over Barcelona, but struggled to retain a place in Zinedine Zidane's star-studded side.

The 22-year-old signed a six-year contract, which reportedly includes a €700 million (£616m/$816m) buyout clause, at the Santiago Bernabeu last September, but has been linked with a close-season switch to Anfield.

Asensio came off the bench in Spain's World Cup win over Iran and the 2-2 draw against Morocco on Monday - a result that sent them through to the last 16 as Group B winners - and says the national team is his sole focus for the time being.

Asked about Liverpool's interest, Asensio said: "That's something in the news but I'm very focused in the World Cup.

BREAKING: Real Madrid ignore De Gea as they finally beat Liverpool to the signing of Goalkeeping sensation

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Lunin joins from Zorya Luhansk in the Ukrainian Premier League, where he made 29 league appearances in the 2017-18 season, signing a six-year deal with the Spanish side for a reported €14 million (£12.3m/$16.3m) fee.

The teenager is considered one of the top goalkeeping prospects in Europe, and had attracted interest from several Premier League sides, including Liverpool, while Juventus and Inter were also said to be tracking him.
It is a dream come true for the player, who revealed in 2017 that his goal was to play for one of the world's best teams .

"Real is my favourite team," he said. "Of course, I would like to be there some day, to play for that club at that level.”

Lunin began his professional career at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, making his debut as a 17-year-old and quickly cementing himself as first choice before joining Zorya Luhansk last summer.

The Krasnogard native was a key player for Zorya as they finished fourth in the league and played in the Europa League group stage, where Lunin impressed against Athletic Club.

He became the youngest goalkeeper to feature for Ukraine in his senior international debut in a 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia in March and earned his second cap in a 4-1 win over Albania in a friendly earlier this month.
"We thank Andriy Lunin for his efforts for Zorya," the Ukrainian club said in a statement.

"We wish with dignity to accept the challenge of fate and eventually he can become the main goalkeeper of one of the best clubs in the world.

"Thank you, Andriy! Good luck in the new club!"
Madrid have previously been linked with Roma's Brazil goalkeeper Alisson, as well as Manchester United's David de Gea.

BREAKING: The unbelievable and legendary record Cristiano Ronaldo is about to set if Real Madrid win the Champions League against Liverpool

It’s the most obvious piece of football analysis ever, but if Liverpool are to win the Champions League this weekend then stopping Cristiano Ronaldo will be key.

Real Madrid’s Portuguese superstar may not possess all the powers he once did. He may be 33, troubled by injury and without the explosiveness which once defined him, but he will still carry Los Blancos’ fight in Kiev on Saturday.

Ronaldo is the Champions League’s top scorer this season with 15 goals. He’s also the competition’s all-time leading marksman, a full 20 clear of Lionel Messi, his nearest and greatest rival. He has won the Golden Boot in each of the last five seasons, and will soon make it six.

Only one player, Iker Casillas, has made more Champions League appearances. Victory against Liverpool will leave Ronaldo on his own as the only man to lift the trophy on five separate occasions. He’s scored in three of the four finals he’s played in previously, the only man in tournament history to achieve such a feat.

Yep, this is his competition alright.

BREAKING: Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos makes overwhelming statement concerning Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah ahead of the UEFA Champions League final

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is one of the leading goalscorers in the UEFA Champions League this season, and Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has now commented on the inevitably of facing the African superstar in the final of the tournament.
The Egyptian, who failed to find the back of the net in his side’s 4-2 loss against AS Roma on Wednesday night, has been compared to the likes Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi recently, thanks to the 43 goals he has scored this season.
Ramos, who is chasing his third consecutive Champions League trophy, insisted that the African forward is just another player and that he is not scared to go up against the 25-year-old.
“We have seen what Salah can do this season, but he will just be one of 11 players we face against Liverpool,” he told the Mirror.

BREAKING: Real Madrid's top target Mohamed Salah jumps ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in Golden Shoe race and the gap is quite remarkable

Liverpool’s African superstar Mohamed Salah has jumped ahead of Lionel Messi to the top of the European Golden Shoe table, while Cristiano Ronaldo has entered the top 10 for the first time this season.
The Egyptian scored four goals in Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Watford to break Fernando Torres’ record for the best debut season at Anfield.
Overall, Salah has now scored 28 goals in the Premier League this season, which equals 56 points in the European Golden Shoe ranking, with the league’s accumulator being rated as “two” by UEFA.
Messi follows in second place after he was replaced at the top by Salah following his four-goal showing. The Argentine currently sits on 25 league goals, which equals 50 points in the Golden Shoe ranking.

Edinson Cavani, Harry Kane and Ciro Immobile have all scored 24 league goals so far this season, equalling 48 points, while Benfica striker Jonas is the only player from outside Europe’s top five leagues among the top 10.
The Brazilian has netted 31 goals in Portugal’s Liga NOS, but with the Portuguese top flight not considered among Europe’s top leagues by UEFA, Jonas’ goals are only multiplied by 1.5, and as a consequence, he sits on 46.5 points.
Robert Lewandowski follows with 23 goals and 46 points, while Ronaldo has now scored 22 league goals, as many as Serie A’s Mauro Icardi, which equals 44 points. Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez complete the top 11 with 21 goals and 42 points.
Salah could become the first African winner of the European Golden Shoe, which has been handed out since the 1967/68 season.
