BREAKING: Real Madrid set to pay initial €40M to seal last-minute transfer of 27-year-old superstar

Real Madrid are reportedly only willing to pay up to €40M to secure a last-minute deal for Spain and Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

This is according to Don Balon, who note that the German giants are after €60M if they are to let the player leave this summer.

The report from the Spanish news outlet also states that Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui has asked the club to bring in a midfielder to replace Mateo Kovacic following his loan move to Chelsea, with it seeming like Thiago is the man that the club are after to fill the void left by the Croatian.

If Real are to sign Thiago this summer, they will have to get a move in the next few days seeing as the summer transfer window shuts on Friday.

Thiago would be a fantastic signing for Lopetegui and Co to make, as the Spaniard has proven during his time with Bayern that he’s one of the world’s standout central midfielders.

Thiago’s previous experience would also make him a good signing for Los Blancos, as the Spanish international proved during his time with Barcelona proved that he can cut it against some of the best teams La Liga has to offer.

Only time will tell if Real end up making a concrete offer for Thiago, however if they do, time doesn’t look to be on their side seeing as they’d have just hours to get a deal over the line for the former Barca star.
